Guided Setup Wizard
The Time Track Central Guided Setup wizard is the fastest way to get a new environment usable — it imports a set of sample configuration records so you have something working immediately, rather than building every Project Type, Payroll Code, and Work Variant from a blank page.
Business Central launches it automatically the first time you open the extension, or you can find it again by searching for "Time Track Central Guided Setup".
Walking through it
- Welcome — confirms which environment you're about to configure (Tenant ID, Environment Name, Company Name are shown read-only so you can double-check you're in the right place before continuing). A link to
docs.timetrackcentral.comis provided for more detail. - Default Configuration — choose a Mileage Unit of Measure (required), then check which sample data sets to import: Categories, Payment Types, Vehicles. Each option is greyed out if its underlying table already has data — the wizard only fills empty tables, it never overwrites existing configuration.
- Success — confirms the sample data was imported, with an explicit warning: the sample data is missing correct G/L accounts, so review and correct posting setup before assigning any of it to a real employee. From here, Continue with Setup takes you directly into Time Track Central Setup.
What actually gets created
Running the wizard with everything checked seeds:
- Project Types: FIXED, T&M, INTERNAL, SERVICE
- Work Variants: FLIGHT, HOTEL, SERVICE
- Overtime List: ALL
- Payroll Codes: Capacity, Normal, Travel, several overtime tiers, WFH, Lunch, Sport, and absence codes
- Work-Hour Templates: 40H, 32H-TUE, 32H-FRI
Treat these as a starting skeleton, not a finished configuration — in particular, none of the sample payroll codes or work variants have real G/L account mappings, so posting will fail (or post somewhere wrong) until you fix that.
The Expense extension has its own, separate guided setup wizard covering expense categories, payment types, and mileage vehicles — see Expenses: Guided Setup.
