Getting Started

TIP

Setting up Time Track Central for your company? Go to Setup instead — this page is for day-to-day use of the web app.

This page covers the minimum you need to find your way around and register your first hours and absences. For everything else, see the Web App Guide.

The screen is split into a navigation area, an entry editor, a details view, and a summary/totals section. The navigation area might be hidden — press the hamburger icon underneath the profile icon to reveal it, then use the arrow buttons to move between weeks, or the calendar icon to jump to a specific year, month, or day. See Screen Division for the full layout and the meaning of the colored status badges you'll see on every line.

Finding a project

In the entry editor, find a project by typing its number or description — by default the last 10 projects you used are shown. If a project or task you expect isn't listed, it's most likely not set up for hour booking yet; see Setup: project tasks or ask your admin. Full field-by-field detail is in Time Management: Entering hours.

Entering and submitting hours

  1. Go to the Time Sheets tab and select the week and day (if you're not already there).
  2. In the editor, pick the hour type, the project and task, add a description, and fill in your hours.
  3. Press Create. Expected result: the line appears in the details view below.
  4. When your hours for the week are ready, press Submit for approval in the summary section — or submit a single line using the three-dot menu on that line in the details view.

To correct a mistake, click the line in the details view to load it back into the editor, adjust it, and press Update. This only works while the line is still open or rejected. See Time Management for editing, deleting, copying hours between weeks, and other day-to-day actions.

Recording absences

Where you book an absence depends on how far ahead you're planning:

  • Within the current week — on the Time Sheets tab, use the Absences card below the hours table: enter the hours directly on the day you need, then press Create.
  • A date range, or a future/past week — on the Absences tab, pick the cause and a from/till date range; the hours are calculated for you from your capacity.

See Absence Registration for submitting, reopening, and how approval works.
